INTERVIEW Post EGL Wardlez and Kraze Interview

With EGL Blackpool over and the gears community completely stunned at how close the final was I managed to grab Kraze and Wardlez from team imperial for a chat about the event and their future plans.

Trap: Hey guys would you like to introduce yourselves for everyone who might not know who you are.

Kraze: Hello im Ross Kennell a personal trainer from Dudley. I go by the alias Kraze and have finished a respectable 2nd at the last 3 events in a row.

Wardlez: Hey guys i am Callum 'Wardlez' Wardle i am a gears of war player who recently placed 2nd at EGL 5 with the team Imperial. Also i am at college doing a business management corse.

Trap: Thanks guys, you mentioned your past placements and we'll touch up on that later but what I want to know was your thoughts of the event, venue, organisation and general experience.

Wardlez: I thought the location of the event had alot of positives along with alot of negitives, it was a cheap event and very good for the new people but blackpool is kind of minging. The main stage was awesome in my opinion i loved every second of it and it will be great to be back up there next time round. The organisation was a bit odd with losing a station on the day then the brackts changing and the pickup team entering but i think you and josh did a great job of keeping things running smoothly and josh for keeping his cool with mellow on his case. As for general experience i will not be missing a lan this season not 1 it was fucking awesome and the people are all sound as fuck.

Kraze: The event overall was very enjoyable, met some awesome people and saw some really intense games. Although in my opinion the organisation of it was fairly poor. The amount of times things got changed and how long you had to wait was ridic. Saying this every event has been the same so didnt really expect anything different. As for the venue its okay when you were in the main hall but the outside its a shit hole. Was a very cheap event and was definitely worth it. Just hope more people can make it to the next one.

Shame i missed the banter bus though, maybe next time.

Trap: You mention this banter bus? Care to elaborate

Wardlez: Its just a little joke between the imperial lads. Goldie ledwith and defy

Trap: Ah alright fair enough, there was a lot of talk on the forums before the event about how every place bar 1st was wide open, was there any truth behind that statement at the event?

Wardlez: I can see why people were saying this becasue online there was no one touching them, then we come out and give them that, with better koth i think we coulda won. Lan is about how you play on the day and we proved it. We promise that the next event will be just as good if not better and there was no truth in my oppinion. We as a team new what we were capable of even if others didn't.

Kraze: Before we went to the event i thought first was very unlikely purley just because we were only a team for 2 weeks and apeX were smashing everyone online. When we started playing at the event we saw our exe game was there and it was just our Koth that we struggled on. People were very skeptical about our team though and a lot of people thought we wasnt even going to get 2nd. Hopefully now everyone has saw how close our game was at EGL3 and 5 proves that apeX can be beaten and might encourage more people to play.

Trap: Good to hear guys, speaking of the next event i presume you guys will be sticking and practicing hard to take the title?

Kraze: Me stick with a team? Good one. No, but seriously i dont know what is happening yet and nothing is set in stone. What we are doing will be announced soon, but as of now i dont know.

Wardlez: Sticking is something we have not spoke about in detail as soon as we no the forum will. But what ever happens no that we will be playing hard to take the title. Also to personal challenges one for ross to get MVP at an event and im going to try take the gow eu poster boy of loco so alot to look forward to.

Trap: Ok fair enough boys, seeing as you brought it up lets talk about the MVP situation, what isit you think that made the community want you as the MVP instead of Reaxion, and do you think he deserved it?

Wardlez: Well i didn't think i deserved it, i play more of a lancer pistol support role and not the flashy player like my boy ross. But i think it would of been the way i played on mainstage and getting the crowd involved i loved it and hope they did to. It would of been nice to have got it seen as i only had to bad maps all event and that was against crumps team were eagl did me in for to maps then i turned it on. But if i had of got it i would of been buzzin. And i didn't watch apex once but if he got it over ross then he most have deserved it so well done to him.

Kraze: Without sounding arrogant i felt like i had a decent event and i can only assume people thought the same. I played decent against apeX, but had better games on the smaller stations. Honestly callum played good all event but went off in the final, was happy for him. Reaxion did play very well and did deserve it but hopefully i can get it next time, but will more then likely be reaxion again.

Trap: Speaking of the final, how does it feel being the new 'Peoples Champions' ?

Wardlez: I actually love it. When the adrenaline kicks in and when i went off it was great, and sean has the best trash talk out of anyone at events. But the crowd were fantastic the way they were reacting to me was brilliant, everyone of them are legends. So when ever i am on mainstage there will not be a dull moment unless my team is a man up.

Trap: Haha lol'd at the last bit. We're just about done then, is there any shoutouts or anything else you'd like to say before we finish up?

Kraze: Shoutout to literally everyone who supported us, the people i spoke to at LAN, my team, the people who said i should of got MVP and the people that lent me there stuff. Also Imperial for all that funding, oh wait.
